6 Nations bets
No startling results from the 1st weekend of 6 Nations rugby … you’d think. At extrabet the ‘Tournament Totals’ markets have been seeing considerable interest. In short these are spread bets asking whether you want to Buy or Sell (ie: go High or Low) the Total quoted. For example
• Total Tournament Points 584-594 (114 points from week 1)
• Total Tournament Tries 52-54 (10 so far)
• Total Tournament Yellows 12 – 13.5 (2 so far)
• Total Tournament Drop Goals 5.5-6 (0 so far)
• Highest scoring game 58-60 pts (47 pts so far)
The real interest is that attacks generally get better over a tournament whereas defences are usually as good at the start as the finish.
For example Ireland could only put 29 past Italy at the weekend. Similarly England put 36 points over Italy at home for the first game of 2009 whereas France put 50 points over them in Rome for the last game. Therefore form shows that contrary to general points scoring in International rugby the Total Tournament points may be a Buy. With 114 from week 1 you’d expect and increase on that week on week. Elsewhere stats show how popular Drop Goals are in close games of rugby. Looking down the list of fixtures there could be at least 7 of the last 12 games that the Handicap line should be in single figures. With Total Tournament Drop Goals at 5-5.6 they may be worth a look.
Chris Shillington explains further …
“Our Tournament Totals markets continue to be super popular. Especially as they give you an interest in every game of the Tournament”
