Champions League betting

In magic the art of distraction is key to the outcome of a trick. Tenuous – but this process is afoot in this year’s Champions League. By this l mean that everyone has their eyes firmly on the marquee teams like Barcelona, Chelsea, Man United, AC Milan and so forth, when there is a real dark horse lurking in the shadows.

This cheval noire is Sevilla. Currently they trade at 12/1 on extrabet whereas Barcelona (11/4) and Real Madrid (5/1) trade considerably lower. Considering they are still 4th in La Liga after losing the services of their 2 best strikers for recent games is still some feat. Add to this they play a CSKA Moscow side that they should beat easily and suddenly the 12/1 looks like a big price.

Elsewhere it’s incredible to think that Manchester United (7/1 with extrabet) are nearly twice as big a price as Chelsea (4/1) even though they have a considerably easier draw in this round. Ferguson’s men are not only finalists from last year but play an AC Milan (25/1) who can’t claim any sort of decent run in the Champions League in recent years. Elsewhere Chelsea meet their maker in Jose Mourinho’s Inter Milan (12/1) who pose are far greater threat.

extrabet’s Chris Shillington explains further … “It’s not often the betting boys get it wrong but punters have been showing support for United through their wallets in the last few days”
