England by a Distance...

England-baiting – it’s nearly a national sport in itself.

The England rugby team are of course not the team they were of say 200,2 however they’re not as bad as people are making out. In betting terms extrabet have seen the smart money coming for Martin Johnson’s team against Ireland this weekend.

extrabet are 10/11 England win, 10/11 Ireland and 18/1 the Draw. The point being that Ireland played poorly against both Italy (home) and France (away). They are now as good as out of this competition, are clearly not the team of last year and only beat England by 1 point at Croke Park last year. Add to this that England at home are a different prospect to away. Further evidence points to a comfortable win against Wales, a demolition of France last year and a 33-10 win against Ireland at Twickenham 2 years ago.

Too boot the slings and arrows aimed at Wilkinson seem exaggerated for a multitude of reasons and he’ll come up against the undoubtable but untried talent in Ireland’s Johnny Sexton this weekend. Experience is a more valid currency than hype.

This leaves a pretty strong case on backing England this weekend and a Buy of England’s Points Supremacy over Ireland at 1.5 could look cheap. Total England Points are 19-21 on extrabet’s spread markets and time of the 1st England Try is 39-42 minutes.

extrabet’s Chris Shillington gives comment from the trading floor “Maybe it’s high time the England rugby team made use of their good individual talents. Our punters certainly think this weekend they will.”

BETS
England 10/11
Ireland 10/11
England to score more than 19 points 4/5

SPREAD BETS

England/Ireland Points Supremacy -1 – 1
Total Points 38-41
Total Match Tries 3.2 – 3.7
