Tiger Press Conference Special
After a long hiatus from the sport that he has dominated for years, Eldrick Tont Woods will finally break his silence tomorrow as he addresses the press in his first public appearance since details of his numerous affairs hit the headlines. The timing of Woods’ press conference has been slammed by his fellow players, with Ernie Els amongst those to speak out against Tiger as he steals the limelight while the WGC-Accenture Matchplay championship is still underway in Arizona. Hopefully then he’ll have something interesting to say, having already caused a stir just by arranging to speak at all.So, can we really expect any revelations from a controlled press conference where questions are banned? Probably not, but if you fancy Tiger to drop the ultimate bomb tomorrow and announce his retirement from the game, you can back that eventuality at 33/1 with Blue Square. While Tiger’s extra-marital meanderings make even John Terry look like the sort of husband a Father wishes for his daughter, it would still be a massive shock if the greatest player in the world were to retire at the age of just 34 when there are so many titles still ahead of him.
As such, Blue Square also offer Tiger Specials covering his performance should he decide to return to action as expected. With the Masters just around the corner, there’s every chance that the 4-time winner will make his come back on the big stage in the first of the year’s majors. Blue Square therefore make him a 5/2 shot to win the Masters, while those of you who fancy him to put his randy wrongdoings behind him in the best possible fashion can back him to capture the Grand Slam this year at 25/1.
Whether he is back in time for the Masters or not, Tiger’s performance in his first official tournament back also provides us with a couple of interesting bets. With the eyes of the world focused on him even more sharply than previously, it’s going to be hard for him (if you’ll pardon the pun), and if you think the pressure will be too much, you can back him to get a Double-Bogey or worse on his first hole back at a fairly large-looking 14/1. This is Tiger however, and Blue Square also offer 2/1 about him getting a Birdie on his first hole back, and that is a real tempter, and surely well worth a few quid.
Here’s a summary of our Blue Square’s Tiger Woods Specials.
